“Epirus gastronomy is set to take centre stage in the years ahead. Our land, our production and, of course, our local products are second to none.”

Georgios Averoff (1815–1899) and Nikolaos Stournaras (1806–1853), both originally from Metsovo, are recognised as National Benefactors of Greece. Their philanthropy and contribution to the creation of educational institutions and public infrastructure left an enduring legacy for the country.
Evangelos Averoff, a descendant of Georgios Averoff, was deeply devoted to the nature and land of his ancestral home. Using resources from the Baron Michael Tositsas Foundation, he established the Tositsas Foundation Cheese Factory, which has operated since 1955 and continues to promote the region’s gastronomic heritage. In 1950, he also began the story of Katogi Averoff, a winery offering distinctive wine experiences and cultivating some of Greece’s highest-altitude vineyards on the slopes of the Pindus mountains.
θamõn is located on one of the city’s most picturesque cobbled streets—a setting that evokes the atmosphere of old Ioannina.
